Recalled products: 10 GIS alerts – 9–15 February 2026

Recalled products with asbestos, overheating batteries and defective medicines in Poland (9-15 Feb 2026). Check details of GIS, UOKiK and GIF alerts now.

During the period 09.02.2026 - 15.02.2026, supervisory authorities published 10 alerts on the safety of products available on the Polish market. The list includes recalled products from the categories of food, toys, consumer electronics, clothing and medicines. Some of them pose an immediate risk of serious harm – from choking in small children, through burns and fires, to life-threatening situations for patients due to quality defects in medicinal products.

According to UOKiK and the EU Safety Gate system, the recalled products include, among others, stretch figures containing asbestos, unsafe power banks and toys with small detachable parts. In line with a GIS food safety notice, a frozen Hortex soup has also been withdrawn because of suspected foreign-body contamination, directly affecting the area of food safety. The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector (GIF) has additionally announced two serious recalls of medicines commonly used in hospitals and pharmacies.

This report summarises all recalled products from this week, providing batch numbers, EAN codes, manufacturers and practical consumer advice. It is for information only and does not replace medical consultation, but it helps you quickly check GIS alerts, UOKiK communications and GIF decisions, and understand the real risks behind each of these warnings.

Below we discuss the most important recalled products that consumers should pay particular attention to.

Recalled product: Stretch Squad stretch figures
Stretch Squad

Stretch Squad stretch figures (Action)

Hazard: Trace amounts of asbestos were detected in the filling of one Stretch Squad figure. If the toy is damaged and the filling released, asbestos fibres can be inhaled, accumulate in the lungs and, years later, contribute to lung diseases including cancer. Because of this, Action is recalling both the 4-figure sets and single Stretch Squad figures.

Recalled product: Spring soup 9-ingredient Hortex
Hortex spring soup

Spring soup 9-ingredient Hortex (Selgros)

Hazard: According to a GIS communication, a batch of frozen soup has been withdrawn due to suspected contamination with a foreign body. Eating such a product may damage the mouth, teeth, throat or gastrointestinal tract and, in severe cases, require surgical intervention. This is a clear breach of EU rules designed to guarantee food safety.

Health risk analysis

The recalled products from the last week illustrate a full spectrum of risks: chemical, physical, mechanical, thermal and pharmacological. Asbestos in Stretch Squad figures is a classic environmental hazard – fibres inhaled into the lungs can, years later, lead to asbestosis, lung cancer or mesothelioma. Although exposure from a single toy is relatively low, EU legislation completely bans asbestos in consumer products.

Small parts detaching from TEDi toys and the Peppa Pig set pose a direct choking hazard. A child may put a part in the mouth, blocking the airways, causing sudden shortness of breath and loss of consciousness. Such accidents are among the most common causes of home deaths in infants, which is why toy recalls of this type are a necessary preventive measure.

Foreign bodies in food, as in the Hortex soup case, can damage the mucosa of the mouth, oesophagus or intestines, leading to pain, bleeding and, sometimes, perforation. Although this week GIS alerts did not concern salmonella, listeria or allergens, food safety requires that every such incident be treated very seriously.

The batteries in the LED cap and power bank carry a risk of thermal burns and fire. Overheating lithium cells may lead to thermal runaway, in which the battery rapidly heats up and ignites. In addition, Philips steam generator irons, where the tank seam may crack, pose a burn risk from escaping hot steam.

GIF stresses that the presence of visible particles in injectable solutions is a direct threat to the patient’s life. Particle embolism in blood vessels can disrupt circulation, while an insufficient dose of loperamide may result in ineffective diarrhoea treatment, dehydration and electrolyte disorders, particularly dangerous for children and older people.

GIS warns against consuming products from batch S0C1070925 because of the risk of a foreign body in the food.

Affected stores

This week’s recalls affect several major retail chains and sales channels. Selgros (Transgourmet Polska) is responsible for two alerts: the LED cap and the Hortex spring soup. The discount chain Action is recalling Stretch Squad stretch figures. According to UOKiK notices, TEDi is removing two toys from its shelves: the mini airplanes and the telescopic giraffe.

In addition, the unsafe power bank was sold mainly online, including on the Allegro platform, and the Philips irons with faulty tanks may have reached many electronics stores across Poland. The medicines covered by GIF decisions – Tranexamic acid Tillomed and Loperamid APTEO MED – were available in pharmacies and hospitals. In total, 10 products were recalled this week, and consumers should check all product categories covered by recent GIS and UOKiK alerts at home.

Consumer advice

If you own any of the products described above, treat them as recalled products and stop using them immediately. For Stretch Squad figures, do not tear them open or allow contact with the filling – place the toy in a sealed bag or box and return it to the store. Toys with small parts must not be given to children, even under adult supervision.

  • Food products from batch S0C1070925 (Hortex soup) should be discarded or returned to the store – do not taste them or try to remove possible contaminants.
  • LED caps and power banks should not be charged or stored near flammable materials. If a device swells, heats up or smells of burning, move it to a safe place as quickly as possible and do not use it.
  • Medicines subject to GIF decisions (Tranexamic acid Tillomed, Loperamid APTEO MED batch IJW024001) must not be administered. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a replacement.

UOKiK reminds consumers that they have the right to return recalled products and get their money back, regardless of the level of wear of the item. A receipt makes the procedure easier but is not always required – large chains often accept returns based on the product itself. If you experience symptoms of poisoning, choking, burns or any other worrying ailments after contact with any of the products described, seek medical help immediately or call emergency services.

It is worth regularly monitoring recalled products and official GIS alerts, especially if you frequently buy frozen food, dietary supplements or toys for children. This is a simple way to better protect food safety and the health of your household.

Regulatory context

The recall process in the European Union and Poland is based on several key legal acts. For food, the cornerstone is Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, which defines the requirements for food safety and establishes the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). GIS publishes alerts when a risk to consumer health is identified, as in the case of the Hortex soup.

Toys, electronics and clothing are covered by the General Product Safety Directive and sector-specific rules such as the Toy Safety Directive. UOKiK coordinates market surveillance activities in Poland and submits information to the Safety Gate system. Medicinal products are governed by the Polish Pharmaceutical Law, and oversight is exercised by GIF, which can order a batch of a medicine to be withdrawn from the market.

Consumers are entitled to expect that recalled products will be removed from sale quickly and that the costs of these actions are borne by manufacturers and distributors. If you encounter problems obtaining a refund or replacement, you can seek help from a local consumer ombudsman or file a complaint with UOKiK. Protecting the safety of food, medicines and other goods is a shared responsibility of public institutions, businesses and consumers.
