In the period 16.02.2026 - 22.02.2026 the supervisory authorities published 10 alerts concerning the safety of products available in Poland. These included eight decisions leading to withdrawal from the market and two GIF notices for medicinal products. According to GIS communications, the most important issues for food safety this week are eggs contaminated with Salmonella spp., a ready meal with an elevated level of Bacillus cereus and walnuts containing the unauthorised pesticide tetramethrin. As UOKiK reports, a dangerous toy posing a choking risk has also appeared on the market. The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector (GIF) in his notices highlighted a falsified Octenisept preparation and the medicine Grofibrat with reduced quality. This review is intended to help consumers quickly check whether they have products covered by the warnings at home, and to explain the possible health consequences of using them. All of the GIS alerts, GIF notices and UOKiK warnings described below should be taken seriously, as they directly concern the safety of food, medicines and everyday consumer products.

The above overview shows that this week GIS alerts are dominated by food safety issues, but GIF notices on medicine quality and UOKiK warnings regarding toys also play an important role. Consumers should pay particular attention to the recalled food products described here, as they have a direct impact on food safety in households.
Wyróżnione komunikaty
10 Fresh eggs, code on shell 3PL08121309
Hazard: Presence of Salmonella spp. bacteria was detected on the surface of the eggshells. Consumption of contaminated eggs, especially without adequate heat treatment, is associated with a risk of food poisoning. Potential effects: food poisoning.
Store: no data | EAN: 5907808019942 | Producer: Zakład Pakowania Jaj, A.A. Kałużni, Przyczyna Dolna 63B, 67-400 Wschowa (Poland)
Octenisept, liquid 0.10 g + 2 g/100 g, 50 ml
Hazard: The product was falsified, manufactured outside the authorised process and without GMP oversight, which means no guarantee of its quality. Keeping such a product on the market poses a direct and real threat to patients' health. Potential effects: lack of treatment efficacy, infections, skin or systemic complications.
Store: no data | EAN: 05909990425235, 05909990425198 | Producer: Schuelke & Mayr GmbH
Shelled walnuts Bakaliowy Targ, 200 g, batch P-5660/02
Hazard: An exceedance of the maximum residue level of the pesticide tetramethrin was found in the walnuts. Use of tetramethrin in plant protection products is illegal in the EU and its presence above the MRL is unacceptable. Potential effects: possible unknown toxic effects, risk to consumer health.
Store: Dino | EAN: no data | Producer: Dino Polska S.A.
Large toy tea set TEDi
Hazard: Small parts were identified in the toy, which may detach during use and pose a choking risk to children while playing. Potential effects: choking.
Store: TEDi | EAN: 61101001211000000500 | Producer: TEDi Sieć Handlowa Sp. z o.o.
Analiza zagrożeń zdrowotnych
According to GIS communications issued this week, the key issues for food safety are microbiological and chemical hazards. Salmonella in eggs can cause acute food poisoning with diarrhoea, fever, vomiting and abdominal pain. Children, the elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. An elevated level of Bacillus cereus in the Topokki ready meal is associated with an increased likelihood of acute gastrointestinal symptoms, which may lead to dehydration.
The second group of hazards involves chemical contaminants and allergens. Exceeding the maximum residue level of the pesticide tetramethrin in walnuts is of particular concern, as this substance is not authorised for use in plant protection products in the EU and its toxicological profile is not fully characterised. Undeclared wheat in Boy Bawang snacks and incorrect allergen labelling of gluten in CUCINA pasta are serious risks for people with coeliac disease or wheat allergy – even trace amounts can trigger an allergic reaction, exacerbate coeliac symptoms or in extreme cases lead to anaphylactic shock. These examples illustrate how crucial strict labelling and pesticide controls are for maintaining high food safety standards.
GIF notices highlight additional risks linked to medicine quality. Falsified Octenisept, manufactured outside GMP supervision, may be ineffective or even dangerous, for example if contaminated with microorganisms. In the case of Grofibrat 200, an out-of-specification result in active substance release may result in a lack of the expected therapeutic effect in treating lipid disorders. Completing the picture, UOKiK and retail chains reported non-food product risks: a toy containing small parts that may detach, posing a choking hazard, and a thermal jug with a design defect that could endanger users when hot liquids are poured. Together, these alerts underline the need for constant vigilance to protect consumer health.

This week, GIS alerts and UOKiK warnings affected both large retail chains and products distributed more broadly without a single identified retailer. Recalled food products appeared in chains such as Aldi (CUCINA pasta), Dino (Bakaliowy Targ walnuts) and Auchan (Topokki meal), as well as in various points of sale for eggs and BAKADELIO walnuts. Biedronka issued its own store notice regarding the thermal jug, while the TEDi chain – in coordination with UOKiK – informed consumers about the dangerous toy tea set.
The two GIF notices concerning Octenisept and Grofibrat relate to products dispensed in pharmacies nationwide. Consumers should remember that withdrawals and marketing bans usually apply only to specific batches, which is why checking batch numbers and expiry dates on packaging is so important. In case of doubt, it is advisable to contact the store, the producer or a pharmacist directly to verify whether a particular item is affected.
Porady dla konsumentów
Consumers who have any of the products mentioned in the GIS alerts, GIF notices or UOKiK warnings at home should first compare the EAN, batch number and minimum durability date with the data provided. For eggs with code 3PL08121309, walnuts from batches P-5660/02 and P-5873/01, the Topokki dish with date 10.03.2027 or Boy Bawang snacks with undeclared wheat, the safest course of action is not to consume the product at all. GIS warns against eating products from these batches due to the risk of salmonella, microbiological contamination or exposure to unauthorised pesticides.
Recalled products can usually be returned to the point of purchase; most retail chains offer a refund even without a receipt if the customer presents the packaging with a visible batch number. For medicines the situation is more sensitive: patients should not stop treatment on their own but should promptly consult their doctor or pharmacist, who will select a safe alternative or confirm the further treatment regimen. If symptoms of food poisoning such as diarrhoea, vomiting or fever occur after consuming a product covered by an alert, medical advice should be sought, and in severe cases the emergency number 112 should be called. One clear takeaway sentence from this week’s alerts is: consumers should immediately stop using questioned products and return them to the store to limit further exposure.
Kontekst prawny
The market surveillance system in Poland is based on cooperation between several authorities. The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) issues alerts on food and food-contact materials, acting under EU Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and using the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector (GIF) publishes notices on the quality of medicinal products and takes decisions to withdraw products from the market, suspend distribution or prohibit marketing under the Pharmaceutical Law. The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) is responsible for the safety of non-food products such as toys or household appliances, issuing public warnings and coordinating corrective actions.
Consumers have the right to return unsafe goods and to receive clear information about risks, while businesses are obliged to promptly remove hazardous products from the market. Although some GIF decisions are formally described as bans on marketing or quality notifications, in practice they mean that the affected batches should not reach retail sale. Understanding how GIS alerts, GIF notices and UOKiK warnings fit together helps consumers see how food, medicines and everyday products are supervised and how their health is protected on the Polish market.
