Introduction

During the period 16.02.2026 - 22.02.2026, Polish supervisory authorities published 10 alerts concerning consumer safety, covering recalled food products, medicines and consumer goods. According to notices from GIS (Chief Sanitary Inspectorate), GIF (Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate) and UOKiK (Office of Competition and Consumer Protection), several of these recalls pose a direct health risk – from contamination with Salmonella and Bacillus cereus bacteria, through pesticide residues, to falsified medicines and incorrect allergen labelling. These GIS alerts and GIF decisions highlight how important it is to follow information on which recalled products may still be present in household cupboards.

This week, the most significant issues are: eggs contaminated with Salmonella, a Topokki ready meal with elevated levels of Bacillus cereus, walnuts containing the illegal pesticide tetramethrin, as well as falsified Octenisept and substandard Grofibrat 200 medicines. GIS also warns about products with incorrect allergen labelling and a toy with small parts that may cause choking. Below we present an overview of all recalled products and practical advice on how to protect your food safety and your family’s health.

Product Store Hazard Risk
Octenisept (0.10 g + 2 g)/100 g no data Falsified medicinal product, manufactured outside GMP High
10 Fresh eggs no data Salmonella spp. on eggshell surface Critical
Topokki dish with sweet and spicy sauce 163 g Auchan Elevated level of Bacillus cereus High
Thermal jug Biedronka Design defect, potential risk during use Medium
CUCINA TAGLIATELLE PASTA 500 g Aldi Wheat/gluten allergen not highlighted on label High
Shelled walnuts Bakaliowy Targ, 200 g Dino Tetramethrin pesticide residues above MRL High
Shelled walnuts BAKADELIO, 100 g no data Tetramethrin above MRL, illegal pesticide High

Grofibrat 200 200 mg no data Out-of-specification active substance release Medium
Large toy tea set TEDi TEDi Small parts, choking hazard for children High

The table above summarises all recalled products from the week under review. In the following sections we discuss in more detail those items which, according to GIS alerts and GIF and UOKiK decisions, pose the highest risk to consumer health.

Most significant recalled products of the week

Recalled product: Octenisept (0.10 g + 2 g)/100 g
Octenisept

Octenisept (0.10 g + 2 g)/100 g

Hazard: The product was falsified, manufactured outside the authorised process and without GMP oversight, which means there is no guarantee of its quality. Keeping such a product on the market poses a direct and real threat to patients' health. Potential effects include lack of treatment efficacy, infections and skin or systemic complications.

Store: no data | EAN: 05909990425235, 05909990425198 | Manufacturer: Schuelke & Mayr GmbH

Recalled product: 10 Fresh eggs
10 fresh eggs

10 Fresh eggs (shell code 3PL08121309)

Hazard: According to the GIS notice, the presence of Salmonella spp. bacteria was detected on the eggshell surface. Consumption of eggs contaminated with Salmonella, especially without adequate heat treatment, is associated with a risk of acute food poisoning.

Store: no data | EAN: 5907808019942 | Packer: Zakład Pakowania Jaj, A.A. Kałużni, Przyczyna Dolna 63B, 67-400 Wschowa

Recalled product: Topokki dish with sweet and spicy sauce 163 g
Topokki 163 g

Topokki dish with sweet and spicy sauce 163 g

Hazard: Testing of the indicated batch revealed an elevated level of Bacillus cereus bacteria, indicating microbiological non-compliance and a threat to consumer health. Potential effects include gastrointestinal discomfort and food poisoning.

Store: Auchan | EAN: 8805957023964 | Manufacturer / distributor: KK Polska Sp. z o.o.

Recalled product: Shelled walnuts Bakaliowy Targ, 200 g
Bakaliowy Targ walnuts

Shelled walnuts Bakaliowy Targ, 200 g

Hazard: In line with the GIS warning, an exceedance of the maximum residue level of the pesticide tetramethrin was found in the walnuts. The use of tetramethrin in plant protection products is illegal in the EU, and its presence above the MRL is unacceptable. Potential effects include unknown toxic effects and a risk to consumer health.

Store: Dino | EAN: no data | Brand owner: Dino Polska S.A. (Bakaliowy Targ brand)

Recalled product: CUCINA TAGLIATELLE PASTA 500 g
CUCINA Tagliatelle 500 g

CUCINA TAGLIATELLE PASTA 500 g

Hazard: Incorrect allergen labelling: the presence of wheat containing gluten is not highlighted on the pasta label, which may result in unintentional consumption by people allergic or intolerant to wheat or gluten. Potential effects include allergic reactions and exacerbation of gluten intolerance.

Store: Aldi | EAN: 2008080138291 | Brand owner: ALDI Sp. z o.o. (CUCINA brand)

Health risk analysis

The recalled products this week illustrate a broad spectrum of hazards. Eggs contaminated with Salmonella spp. can cause severe food poisoning with diarrhoea, fever, vomiting and dehydration, which is particularly dangerous for children, the elderly and pregnant women. GIS clearly stresses that eggs from batch 3PL08121309 should not be eaten even after mild heating – they should be thoroughly cooked or discarded.

Bacillus cereus, found in the Topokki dish, is responsible for two types of food poisoning: emetic (vomiting) and diarrhoeal. Symptoms may occur within just a few hours of consumption, and the risk increases if the product is stored at improper temperatures. Tetramethrin pesticide in walnuts represents a different, chemical hazard: its use in plant protection products in the EU is banned and, under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, any detectable level is treated as an exceedance of the MRL, undermining food safety.

Incorrect allergen labelling in CUCINA pasta and the Boy Bawang snack means that people with wheat allergy or gluten intolerance may unknowingly consume a dangerous product. Allergic reactions range from hives, swelling and breathing difficulties to life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Falsified Octenisept and Grofibrat 200 with out-of-specification active substance release can lead to ineffective treatment, disease progression and infectious complications, as underlined by GIF in its communications. Finally, the TEDi toy tea set with detachable small parts poses a classic choking hazard, especially for children under the age of three.

Stores affected by the recalls

Among the retail chains affected by this week’s recalls are Biedronka (thermal jug with a design defect), Aldi (CUCINA Tagliatelle pasta) and Auchan (Topokki dish with elevated Bacillus cereus). Dino Polska S.A. has recalled shelled walnuts under the Bakaliowy Targ brand, and the TEDi chain – as indicated in UOKiK information – has withdrawn the large toy tea set due to choking risk.

Some recalled items were also distributed via other, non-specified channels, including smaller shops and online sales. Consumers should check at home whether they have any of the listed products – especially eggs, walnuts and snacks – by comparing batch codes, best-before dates and EANs with the data published in GIS alerts. If any recalled products are still present at home, the following recommendations should be followed.

Consumer advice

If you find any recalled products at home, the first step is to carefully check the product name, batch number, best-before date and EAN on the packaging. Items covered by GIS alerts – such as eggs with Salmonella, walnuts with tetramethrin or the Topokki dish – should be withdrawn from use immediately and not tasted "just to check", even if they look and smell normal. In the case of eggs and ready meals it is advisable to dispose of them; dry products (walnuts, pasta, snacks) should not be stored further or shared with others.

Recalled products can usually be returned to the place of purchase – even without a receipt – by referring to the official GIS notice or the store’s recall information. For medicines such as Octenisept and Grofibrat 200, GIF recommends stopping use of the affected batches immediately and consulting a doctor or pharmacist to obtain a safe replacement. If, after consuming a product from the list, you experience symptoms of food poisoning (diarrhoea, vomiting, fever) or an allergic reaction (rash, swelling, breathing difficulties), contact a doctor or the nearest emergency department. Paying attention to food safety and reacting quickly to GIS alerts significantly reduces the risk of serious health complications.

Regulatory context

The procedure that leads to products being recalled is based on EU and national legislation. For food, the key legal framework is Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and national sanitary regulations, which require producers and distributors to immediately withdraw from the market any food that may pose a health risk. GIS publishes official GIS alerts on its website, informing the public about the risk and providing detailed product data. For medicines, the competent authority is the Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (GIF), which, under the Pharmaceutical Law, may order recall or suspension of specific batches.

UOKiK oversees general consumer products such as toys and household items, and maintains a public register of dangerous products. Consumers are entitled to a free replacement, repair or refund for unsafe goods, as well as to clear information about associated risks. Regularly monitoring GIS, UOKiK and GIF communications on recalls is essential for maintaining a high level of food safety and health protection in Poland.
