Recalled products in Poland: 11 alerts, 6–12 Apr 2026

Recalled products in Poland: 11 GIS and UOKiK alerts, including medicines, toys and kitchen tools with toxic risks. Check affected batches and advice.

In the period 06.04.2026 - 12.04.2026, supervisory authorities in Poland published 11 safety alerts concerning products on the market. The recalled products include medicines, toys, kitchen utensils, household appliances and cutting accessories for brush cutters. According to communications from GIS (Chief Sanitary Inspectorate), UOKiK (Office of Competition and Consumer Protection) and GIF (Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate), several of the detected non-conformities pose a real risk of serious health consequences.

The most serious hazards concern the anticancer drug Oxaliplatin Eugia, contaminated with particles visible to the naked eye in an infusion solution, and kitchen utensils from which primary aromatic amines migrate into food – substances suspected of being carcinogenic. The recalled products also include PVC tablecloths with excessive DEHP phthalate content, dangerous blade and chain attachments for brush cutters, a musical toy set with choking risk and the AIR FRYER 10L Carrefour Home appliance, which may overheat.

GIS alerts and GIF communications show how diverse the sources of risk can be – from contaminated medicines to chemical migration into food. For consumers, it is essential to follow such alerts from GIS and other authorities, to check batch numbers and EAN codes, and to remove recalled products from use without delay. The list below presents all 11 recalled products from the last week, together with risk descriptions and practical guidance.

Health hazard analysis

This week’s recalled products cover several distinct hazard categories. For medicines (Oxaliplatin Eugia and Vendal retard), the key issue is that failure to meet quality specifications can directly affect both efficacy and safety. The presence of visible particles in an injectable infusion may promote emboli, vascular inflammation and thromboembolic complications, as highlighted by GIF with reference to pharmacopeia standards. Even a single unknown impurity in an opioid medicine can alter its pharmacological profile and increase the likelihood of adverse reactions.

Kitchen utensils contaminated with primary aromatic amines pose a direct threat to food safety. Under EU Regulation 1935/2004, materials intended to come into contact with food may not transfer substances in amounts that endanger health. Aromatic amines are toxic and some are considered potentially carcinogenic, especially with long-term exposure. GIS stresses that such substances should not be detectable in food at all. Although this week’s GIS alerts do not involve biological contamination such as salmonella or listeria, nor undeclared allergens, the level of chemical risk is high.

The PVC tablecloth with excessive DEHP is an example of a long-term hazard. DEHP, listed under REACH as a substance of very high concern, can disrupt the endocrine system and affect fertility, particularly in men and children. This relates not only to skin contact but also to possible migration into food, again undermining food safety.

The various brush-cutter blade and chain attachments pose a risk of mechanical trauma. Breaking rivets and screws can cause heavy, fast-spinning components to detach and strike the operator or bystanders, leading to cuts, fractures or head injuries. UOKiK, referring to general product safety rules, classifies such products as posing a serious hazard under normal use.

The BIGTOYS musical set presents a classic choking hazard for young children: small balls released from toys can block the airway, leading in extreme cases to respiratory arrest and death. Finally, the overheating AIR FRYER can damage its own components, which may then contaminate food. This again compromises food safety and may result in consumers swallowing fragments of plastic or metal.

GIS warns that recalled products intended for food contact should not be used even occasionally, because cumulative chemical exposure is difficult to quantify and may only manifest after years.

Stores affected by the recalls

This week, recalled products were identified both in a major retail chain and in less formal sales channels. Carrefour reports that the AIR FRYER 10L CARREFOUR HOME model (EAN 3616959381496) is being withdrawn from all its stores due to overheating risk. Customers are asked to return the appliance to points of sale.

Some items – particularly the dangerous blade and chain attachments for brush cutters and certain kitchen utensils – were distributed through online shops and marketplaces, including Alibaba, as indicated by Safety Gate data and UOKiK notices. In other cases (BIGTOYS toys, RAVI DECOR PVC tablecloth, JUXIONG utensil), the authorities point to distribution via various retail outlets, without a single dominant seller. Consumers should check whether products they own match the descriptions, EAN codes and batch numbers listed in GIS alerts and other official communications.

Consumer advice

If you have any of the recalled products, stop using them immediately. This is particularly important for products that come into contact with food or the body, where food safety and treatment safety take absolute priority. Oxaliplatin Eugia (batch 1OX25010B) and Vendal retard (batch H01295) should be returned to a pharmacy; they must not be used further. However, in the case of oncology treatment, do not discontinue therapy on your own – contact your treating physician as soon as possible to arrange an alternative.

Kitchen utensils (the spaghetti spoon, Noodle Scoop JUXIONG) and the PVC tablecloth should be removed from everyday use. GIS recommends that recalled food-contact products should not be used even occasionally, because exposure to aromatic amines or phthalates may be cumulative. Shops usually accept such goods back even without a receipt if you refer to official GIS alerts or UOKiK decisions, although having proof of purchase can make the process easier.

The BIGTOYS toys and all listed brush-cutter attachments must be immediately taken away from children and adult users. If any mechanical injury occurs, or if a foreign body is swallowed, or if symptoms of chemical poisoning appear (abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, breathing difficulties, rash), seek urgent medical care, taking the product packaging with you.

Recalled products can generally be returned at the point of purchase or according to the procedure specified by the manufacturer or GIS/GIF. Consumers are entitled to a refund and to full information on the nature of the hazard. Any doubts can be reported to the sanitary inspectorate, pharmaceutical inspectorate or UOKiK.

Regulatory context

The recall process in Poland is based on both national and EU law. For materials intended to come into contact with food, GIS acts under the Food Safety and Nutrition Act and Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, which requires that such materials do not endanger health or adversely affect the composition of food. Medicines are overseen by GIF under the Pharmaceutical Law and Good Manufacturing Practice rules. UOKiK, working with the EU Safety Gate system, supervises general consumer product safety, including toys and household appliances.

When a risk is identified, authorities order manufacturers and distributors to withdraw specific batches from the market, inform consumers and provide a return mechanism. GIS alerts and UOKiK notices are published publicly so that everyone can check whether they own recalled products. Consumers have the right to expect that food safety and product safety remain a priority, and that institutions react quickly and transparently whenever new hazards are detected.
