Salmonella can cause salmonellosis with diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fever, nausea and vomiting. Young children, older people and those with weakened immunity are particularly vulnerable. Consumer advice

Do not give affected toys to children or pass them to other people. Contact the retailer or manufacturer about return arrangements. If a product was consumed and diarrhoea, fever, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, neurological symptoms or an allergic reaction develops, seek medical advice and provide the product and batch details. Breathing difficulty, swelling of the tongue or throat and fainting require an immediate call to 112. Food safety also depends on hygiene: keep raw meat separate and cook it thoroughly.
